Different cards keep sending me emails and snail mail with bonus for adding another authorized user to my cards. That's the last thing I would do. It took me years to get out from what my ex managed to put on joint and my individual cards. I love my kids and grandkids but if I want them to have something, I'll buy it for them.
The trouble with them having use of them, so many things will seem like an emergency and "Ill pay you back."

(11,343 posts)I had two cards just to build my credit.
Now I'm pretty much pay as I go too.

(5,477 posts)We might be what they consider their worst type of customer - we pay the full balance on time every month for the 3 cards that we regularly use. We haven't paid any interest at all on card purchases for probably 15-20 years.
I think they hate us, and just stopped trying to have us get more cards or add people to the existing ones.

(1,654 posts)Interest in paying off those bills. You really need credit to order online but since Covid I've used them for most of my groceries, too. The reason I have multiple cards is I usually don't charge a lot on any of them and when I get a bill for higher than usual I check it very carefully for purchases I don't remember making. I have become very suspicious.

(7,565 posts)I vividly remember in 2012, I received my replacement credit card from Capitol One since my former one expired.
I called the 800 number expecting to get a recording so that I could activate my credit card. Imagine my surprise when I got a person instead.
The problem was the person on the other line wanted me to put an authorized user on my account. I kept telling them that I didn't want my then spouse on my account or being an authorized user. She wouldn't take no for an answer.
I told the Capitol One representative that I had things to get done for the day and please just activate my replacement credit card. She finally did what I wanted; I'll never forget how persistent she was.
My credit card should be my credit card.
