General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWay back when I was employed in a factory where there were "foremen" and "supervisors" and
"assistant" everything's, we had a saying that summed up management's attitude about "promotions": ( with faux enthusiasm ) "We won't increase your pay,---but we'll call you 'Colonel'!" ( or, "Assistant Whatever" )
Today, MAGA Republicans are telling McCarthy: "We won't let you make any decisions, but we'll call you 'Speaker'!"

(17,982 posts)My Son will enjoy that.
My Son spent years refusing Management because that was the only plant having a Union for Engineers because he would have to leave the Union.
His quote! I am an engineer designing and building machines, I do not want to be a paper pusher! Besides , that raise would not begin to cover my over time!
Bush had just changed the rules on overtime so management did not get over time.

(17,982 posts)Until my Son and daughter built a house there. Halfway between their jobs in different ways.
The Golden Lamb is there, Historic, so many Presidents stayed there. They have a scenic railway.. My Son took me down to see all the different Engines. To my surprise the camp cars my Grandfather lived in with his crew as they built tunnels and kept the DT& I running, hauling Henry Fords cars. I had visited those cars so many times when he was close.
