Thank all of you for your well wishes.

Mr. Dixie spent most of Dec. in & out of hospital for a recurring problem. His 3rd trip in was Christmas Day. He is still in hospital. That stay included double pneumonia on top of a collapsed lung.
Then I got pneumonia. So for 3 days we were one room apart in the same ICU.
ON day 4 he was transferred to a larger hospital in Pensacola, had a Cat Scan where a tumor was identified.
Unnamed tumor was "too close to his heart" to open chest to fix lung. So they used a laperscope ( I don't know correct name for it)..tube and cameras...to fix the " holes" in his lung. Had no idea there were holes, plural.
I came home 2 days ago.
He is still in hospital, very weak and tired, but breathing is easier he said.
He also said "they" had managed to break "some ribs".

We are a 2 hour drive from Pensacola. Communicating via his smart phone and my tablete mail.

I blame it all on Trump.

I'm shocked and saddened to read about your husband.

Here is wishing, hoping and praying that he heals quickly and fully!

Take care of yourself so you can take care of him!

Glad you're home, though I've been there and know how quickly debilitating what you've been through can be. Mr. Dixie spending a few more days in hospital while you gather your strength sounds like it has its plus side, but looking forward to hearing when he gets to be home with you again too.

I never hear a hospital referred to as "hospital" instead of "the hospital" in the US. Just curious.

I am very glad you got over pneumonia and are "home".

and fixing a bleeding ulcer. He was 85 at the time and nearly lost him. Now he has fully recovered. I became his drill Sargent staying on top of his diet, his meds, checking blood pressure. He had lost so much weight he looked like a ghost and had little to no appetitive. I counted his calories, added a liquid high calorie additive to his foods etc etc. After about 3 months he was back to his usual weight and moving around well. Didn’t mean to go on so long, I meant to say how wonderful your hubby is recovering well now and send you a huge hug because I can understand how you feel, though I wasn’t in the hospital trying to recover from pneumonia myself.

I can relate and am glad to hear you're both making headway. It's a slow process (mine included induced comas) but hang in there. It feels pretty dismal right now, but the ICU staff are always a devoted bunch from my experience. My cancer tumor clogged my lung and collapsed it as well. It was a tough one, and I feel for you.

The recovery may take a while before you can walk far, but try to schedule rehab. It moves things along more quickly.

...while I was busy dying of pneumonia and end stage kidney failure the lung cancer bailed ship and has been gone since. I guess it figured there wasn't much left to do anymore. hahaha

Get better, but never stop working to recovery. It's been almost 3 years and I'm still gaining strength and stamina. Last year I couldn't walk to the mailbox and back, even with oxygen (I have COPD). Now I can do even more. My muscles still get sore, but not nearly as bad.

I hope you two have insurance that covers therapy because I credit six months of that to my healing. You can go together if you wait until he's on his feet. Good Luck!

I have a feeling they'll be alright. During these times things look pretty bleak, but the human spirit is harder to extinguish than the mere bits and pieces. as long as they resign themselves to baby steps, they'll be fine.

My husband had a quadruple bypass and open heart sugery last spring and I was a total wreck for weeks so I can't imagine what it must be like not being able to be together. Hope you get better soon. You are going to need your strength. Take very, very good care of yourself.
