@TheTNHoller

WATCH: Rep. Paul Sherrell (R-Sparta) wants to bring “HANGING BY A TREE” back to Tennessee 😳 — as an amendment to
@DennisHPowers
firing squad bill.

(Reminder: SHERRELL also had a bill to change John Lewis Way to “Trump Blvd”)

Though his expressed desire to rename "John Lewis Boulevard" to "Trump Boulevard" might well incite some on our side too. It certainly does this harmless pacifist.

Will that tree be in the town square and hot dogs will be sold? Back to the 1800's.

Otherwise known as lynching to most MAGAt southerners. Why am I not surprised that the same TN Rep who wants a major portion of John Lewis Way changed to Trump Blvd would be onboard for this?

Why not stoning or burning at the stake while we're at it?

or will each county have its own? If the former, will there be a State Arborist to make sure the tree is in good health? What if the Hanging Tree gets blown down in a storm, or is infested by beetles or some other tree disease - how does the legislature go about choosing a replacement? What if a branch breaks while someone is being hanged? I don't think the dishonorable gentleman thought this all the way through.

Places that used hanging as a means of capital punishment eventually went to special-built gallows for the purpose, because that way it was more likely to result in a quick death for the victims, generally by breaking their necks. Hanging someone from a tree is a long, slow death by strangulation, a form of torture. But then, this may be what the representative had in mind.

Citizens will have hanging trees out on their front lawns. Along with the burning crosses.

The whole thing is disgusting. But when you have a former president musing about mass executions, making them public, even televising the events?

Anything is possible.

Too bad the people who elected him are too stupid to continue voting for cruel people like him.

They want to bring back barbaric practices because they are miserable SOB’s.
