He is a real patriot and American. No one in the current GQP has the courage to preserve freedom. They say they do but it is the opposite. He is a true hero.

6. I just learned Daniel Ellsberg trusted Pete McCloskey with a copy before the story broke

And that Daniel Ellsberg went to ground when the battle to publish was going on. Ellsberg called McCloskey from a remote phone booth, full of fear, and McCloskey gave him the courage come out of hiding and go public, "Wait a minute, you're a national hero, give up".

9. Fifty years ago, he came to speak at my college.

A bunch of nut cases tried to interrupt his address with a bunch of shouted radical mumbo jumbo, while some other woman got up and started screaming that Ellsberg was a CIA plant.

Shouting down calm, eloquent people who just want to have their say, and be heard by those who came to hear him--it has been going on long before Fox institutionalized the practice.

Daniel Ellsberg is already immortalized in the annals of American History, I hope he leaves us with that satisfaction firmly in his mind.

10. Very sad news!! He is a wonderful man!!

I had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving with him at The Crawford Peace House in 2005 or maybe it was 2006. I even have a picture of me with him. It is one of my very favorite pictures.
Losing him and President Carter both is just too much.

Daniel is incredibly smart. He is a wisp of a man, very soft spoken and all around amazing. A very gentle giant.

Honestly, this just breaks my heart.

May his journey be peaceful.

I just went to link at Huff which led to Daniel's Twitter account. I don't know how to post it here but I hope everyone will go read it. It's a beautiful letter to us all. I truly do love him and he will be greatly missed. This is not a good way to start one's day.
