As for raising the cap on income subject to SS taxation, the idea is being discussed.

Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) has expressed openness to raising the taxable wage cap for the program and perhaps creating a “supercommittee” to hash out a potential deal that could get an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor.

5. Why not lower the retirement age

to 62? Probably almost none of the representatives in Congress have ever gotten their hands dirty. They have no idea how a physically demanding job wears out the body. People making a living in one of the trades really are just about worn out by the age of 60.
