snip-"Residents within 1,000 feet of Saturday’s train derailment at Ohio 41 near the Prime Ohio Business Park in Clark County are being asked to shelter in place “out of an abundance of caution,” per the Clark County Emergency Management Agency.

Residents who need to travel to Ohio 41 are also being asked to find alternate routes. Power outages are also being reported in the area due to downed power lines."

snip-" The derailment occurred at 4:57 p.m. on State Route 41, between I-70 and Bird Road, according to Sgt. David Slanker of the Springfield Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol.

“We don’t know,” Slanker said, when asked whether the train has tanker cars. “There are a lot of cars that are derailed and we’re investigating right now to determine what they contain, and if any are leaking.”

I worked loading them, driving cars on them for years. They derailed in the yard quite a few times. The crews that that put them back up on the tracks was something to see. Brings back a lot of memories.

I’ve ever had. Nothing soft in a rail car. Climbing up and down the latter bars on sides. Then going back and put straps on the tires and cranking them down tight with a ratchet wrench. I was lucky to never have a permanent injury.
Just glad I didn’t play college football like my brother. He is a a few years older than me and still walks with a limp. All of his team mates are screed up now. I had lots of offers to play in college and turned them all down because every football couch was an A-hole and a bully.

jobs that we look back on and shudder at how dangerous it was. I used to horseback ride with no helmet and no training. I'd gallop. What a fool. That's your 20s for you.

That being said men do dangerous jobs and have forever. Why 104 boys are born for every 100 girl babies. It is baked into the cake that men will lose a few young men with the dangerous work they have always done. I salute you all who do tough work.

Makes one wonder if additional safety measures might help? Oh, right, tried that.
