Williamson accuses DNC of 'rigging' the primary system for Biden

Marianne Williamson, the first officially declared Democratic candidate for president in 2024, accused the Democratic National Committee (DNC) of “rigging” the primary system in favor of President Biden as she begins her long-shot bid to win the party’s nomination.

“The DNC should not be rigging this system,” Williamson said in an interview with ABC’s “This Week.” “They don’t even pretend anymore. They’re not even covert about their swaying the primary season. They’re very overt about it.”

The “rigging” that Williamson railed against included the Biden-backed plan to move New Hampshire from its place as the first primary of election season and replace it with South Carolina, which Biden won overwhelmingly in 2020. Williamson said that people in New Hampshire “were not happy about that.”

Her announcement likely sets up the first – albeit long-shot – Democratic primary challenge to President Joe Biden, who has long said he intends to run for reelection but has yet to make a formal announcement.

“I have run for president before,” she told supporters at her campaign launch at Union Station in Washington. “I’m not naive about the forces which have no intention of allowing anyone into this conversation who does not align with their predetermined agenda.”

Democratic 2020 presidential hopeful Marianne Williamson was caught on hot mic after an interview, claiming that right-wing cable network Fox News and conservatives are "nicer" to her than the political left.

"What does it say that Fox News is nicer to me than the lefties are? What does it say that the conservatives are nicer to me?" Williamson said after an interview with Eric Bolling on Sinclair Broadcast Group's America This Week last week. "It's such a bizarre world," she added.

"I didn't think the left was as mean as the right, they are," the activist and author asserted......

Although the hot mic remarks were particularly candid, Williamson has gone on the record multiple times in recent days criticizing the Democratic party and the established political system.

"I've learned that the system is even more corrupt than I knew," she said in an interview with Fox News morning show Fox & Friends on Tuesday. Williamson also criticized both Democrats and Republicans, saying they "should facilitate the process of democracy [but] not in any way dictate the process."

In a September 3 interview with The New Yorker, Williamson took aim at the progressives, saying, "I didn't think the left was so mean. I didn't think the left lied like this."
