(7,839 posts)The man was a God in the former white owned colonies, rightly so. Saw it as they saw it, the history of racism and subjugation that exists to this day, in former and STILL existent colonies under the thumb of far away empires.
It wasnt the boxing, it was the moral compass set in the right direction, not in the direction of the former masters.

(73,511 posts)was inspirational, too. It's a tough sport. It's still hard for me to believe that he fought Sonny Liston with his hands at his sides. And his comeback was amazing after three and a half years of a forced retirement from the ring. They stole the man's title, and his ability to earn a living to support his family.

hung out in Ali's training camp a few times, and was friends with Bundini. He has pictures of The Champ holding his daughter. And his daughter has a book Ali gave her.
My brother & I were ringside for the second Ali vs Frazier fight. Nothing like it!

(73,511 posts)I love The Champ, and seeing a picture of him or watching a film of him always makes me smile. The 1960s and '70s would not have been the same without him. I still have his "I am the Greatest!" LP that he made before the first Liston fight. And he won a unanimous decision over Uncle Sam.
There will never be another one like him!
There will never be another Ali
