I used to take an old generic anti-inflammatory.

Walgreens cost: $47

CVS : $7.80

And Walgreens has a habit of buying up old farmland to put their shitty stores on.

There are still some in New Hampshire (not too far a drive for me really, an extra 15-20 minutes), but locally CVS is the only other option. Of course, with my insurance, the best pricing is at Walgreens, so it's a tough call.

Boycotting will be difficult in this small town where the only alternative to the drug store items sold by Walgreen's is going to Walmart, which is far less than ideal. We have nothing else like that, no Rite Aid, and Walgreen's took over our CVS. But I'm going to make a huge effort to not walk through that door again. Won't matter here in Trumpistan where 95% of the population are applauding them, but it's a matter of principle.

my ex worked for them decades ago. you know how all stores are laid out to confuse you? how shit keeps moving around, so you can never find anything? they invented that. their entire business plan always was taking advantage of ppl waiting on a rx. to push their buttons to buy over priced cheap crap.
they refined it to an art, and now every retailer does it that way.

just corporate assholes.

and I would love to continue not using them. Unfortunately, many of us have few to no other choices where we live. I was using a local pharmacy, but they recently closed the location I was using, and with only about a week's notice. I had little choice but to transfer my scripts to Walgreens.

It's generally cheaper, anyway. (Often you get 3 months for the price of two.)

It does take a little advance planning, but we've been doing mail order for years except for emergency prescriptions.

(If you don't have insurance - or even if you do - costco mail order beats most insurance prices. We have insurance, but save money by not using it on well over half of our drug purchases. Since it's mail order, you don't have to live near a costco - we save well more than the cost of membership on medicaton purchases. It's usually equivalent to the prices at GoodRx.)

Health plans usually have a mail order option. Mark Cuban also has a mail order pharmacy worth taking a look at. Walgreens has given a big middle finger to American women and girls. Whenever we can, vote with our dollars.

Walgreens grew from a small chain of pharmacies due to the efforts of George Remus, known as "The King of the Bootleggers". Remus' story is thought to have been the foundation of "The Great Gatsby".

I wish I'd figured out about it sooner - it would have saved money for years. Potassium Citrate is $245 for a year there. Depending on the plan, the price for a year under the available insurance plans were as high as $1400 for the year.

Not everything is that dramatically different - but it is definitely worth the membership price for us.

MRSA at University, in her dorm shower. She ended up having surgery and was prescribed an antibiotic that was roughly 1,000.00-1,500.00 a pill (I can't really remember), the closest pharmacy was a Walgreens. They would not fill the prescription unless we paid twice the amount, before Insurance. I'm not a very smart person, so I went back to the hospital (they wouldn't discharge her until I had the meds) I told the nurse, the Dr., and the administration what had happened and how was I to get her prescriptions. Well, they got to looking into it and they discovered Insurance fraud (I really don't know how it happened, like I said, I'm not so smart.) That discovery started an investigation. I don't know what happened with it, because I lived a state away, but my guess is there were a lot of fines. And I got the meds free because of it. And have boycotted Walgreens ever since. This was in 2014.

I've only ever used them for passport photos...lots of places will take a passport photo so boycotting is easy. However, I'll call them to let them know because otherwise a boycott is useless. They have to KNOW why we're boycotting.

The only close drug stores are Walgreens and CVS and some grocery stores. We've had issues with both the local CVS and the grocery stores with our meds, but guess we will have to switch to one or the other and then might have to switch again? I hate that Walgreens is doing this, the local store was well run and never gave me any issues with our pills. Damn! Life is so full of both minor and major aggravations these days. Grrr.
