Just before the last election people, even here on DU, were saying that election or the next . . .

. . . could be our last.

The Supremes are lost if something isn't done. But what?

DuWHUT is showing the way to fascism in Florida.

Just tonight the Georgia legal system may well have been dealt a death blow in favor of the GOP.

Back in the Little Boots era I can recall tension on the political left between the hard left and the moderate left. The issues were complicated and it is not my intent to drag up any of the "why".

Just the what.

The hard left was enthusiastically working to move the country left. At the same time, moderates were worried, even then, abut the Supreme Court. True enough, no one could have imagined three judges in a single four year term.

But that's what we got.

And the new Georgia law, in my view, will be bullet proof.

The GOP, the fascist party, can control the judiciary by simply changing players to suit their will.

How long do YOU think we have? One more Biden term? Can we win one more Biden term?

How do we stop what is arguably an inexorable march to fascism?

I am on old man. I wonder if I will see this play out. My biggest fear is that I will.

and Fani is up for reelection in 2024. I do not know the procedure if they fire her? Will the Deputy AG take over, will the Magat legislators put in a temporary person?

. . . . Willis to remain untouchable.

I gotta wonder if Willis' "delay" has anything to do with this new law. Maybe recasting her prosecution team in a way to keep things going. Just spitballing here.

angrier I feel. I'm sorry but it all goes back to Garland for me. He had one job. He failed Biden and the entire country and rethugs are completely lawless at this point. They do not fear us at all. They know we won't do anything, and that's what pisses me off the most.

inexorable march to fascism, and that's based more on my personal understanding of that particular movement. And to paraphrase you, fascism is complicated and it is not my intent to get bogged down into a back and forth over it, and in the end, what difference does it make what it's called... it's not good.

I don't have a Twitter a/c, I'm not on Facebook, not even sure what Instagram is all about, and I happen to run across a lot of Tik-Tok videos only because they pop up and I go for the click bait. And what truly amazes me is that apparently there are tens of thousands of people out there who have 100,000 to a million and even more followers, most of whom seem to have carved out some niche by going through a drive-thru and complaining about an order or whatever their schtick might be. This instant access has given birth to 'content providers' et al, and the driving force seems to be how outrageous one can be.

Unfortunately, this has spilled over to the political realm, and not for the better. The more outlandish one is, the more followers they gather, and the more 'influential' they become. We are no longer constrained by any type of intellectual analysis AT ALL, it's all emotional, of which hate/mocking/contempt is a big component.

The long and the short of it is, we're doomed. And with the new ChatGPT-type venues popping up, I'd say sooner vs. later.

Republicons worked their asses off to accomplish it while we were told to "be patient".

This is what comes from giving them time and space.

I hate everyone who said to just be "patient"

As long as the fascist core of the Republican party is burning bright, and as long as the American electorate is so ill-informed, misinformed, or disengaged that we only win elections by the skin of our teeth instead of having resounding victories, then sooner or later the odds will tip into the favor of the fascists, and they will grab all the power that they can in ways that won't be fixed for a long, long time.

QUICK consequences for Trump and top-level coup plotters might have doused that fascist flame. The plodding, timid process we've got instead has kept the flame alive.
