Democrats Are Furious Biden Might Bring Back 'Inhumane' Family Detention Policy

Democrats blasted the White House on Tuesday for reportedly considering reinstating a policy that would detain migrant families who cross the U.S. border illegally.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that she would not comment on a New York Times report that the administration was considering reviving a family detention policy, adding, “I’m not saying it’s being considered. ... I’m not saying it is not.”

Democrats have sounded the alarm over the idea, demanding the White House not reimplement a much-criticized policy Biden ended when he took office.

“I am disgusted and disappointed that our nation would ever consider reinstating a program that has been proven to cause harmful, long-term effects on migrant families, especially children, who have been forced to flee their home nations in search of freedom, safety, and democracy,” said Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-Fla.).

Sounds like that might be a good way to get a few nights rest and then be on their way.

Detained together in a hotel room like space shouldn’t be a problem.
Trump’s policy separated families which was horrific!

Almost as if someone is trying to drive wedges between Democrats. But then maybe that is just my paranoia.

their tearing children away from parents onto Democrats, conflating family detention under Democrats with the vicious atrocities targeting children and parents under tRump.

This below, though, isn't from Yahoo Sports but a sampling from a NYT article that has far more conflations of Democratic detentions with Republican crimes against humany.

..."Mr. Biden’s tough new measures, including a crackdown announced last month that could disqualify a vast majority of migrants from being able to seek asylum at the southern border, have infuriated advocates who say the president is breaking campaign promises and embracing a Trump-era approach to immigration....

“Ending the inhumane practice of family detention has been one of the only positive immigration policy decisions of the Biden administration,” ... “It is heartbreaking to hear there could be a return to the Trump-era use of this practice,” she said.

The NYT article makes NO mention of tRump's "family separation" atrocities until near the end of the lengthy article, seemingly for the express purpose of conflating Biden's planned detentions with them. (Gotta mention this unspeakable cruelty to smear Dems with it, after all.)

...concerns that family detention would encourage parents to send their children to the U.S. border alone instead of risking detention as a family. Critics of family detention say that putting families in the position of deciding to send their children to the United States without them is simply de facto family separation, a harsh measure used during the Trump administration when 5,500 children were separated from parents at the southern border.
