Until these jury awards are taken out of Police Pension funds or their annual budgets, rather than the tax payer’s collective, nothing changes.

Specifically, the jury found Deputy Steven Holland liable for $2.7 million to mother Aasylei Loggervale and $2 million apiece to her daughters, Aaottae Loggervale, then 17, and Aasyeli Hardege-Loggervale, then 19.

The jury also found then-Deputy Monica Pope liable for $750,000 to both daughters, and that Alameda County is liable for the actions of its deputies.

I see Alameda County is liable for their actions. Not “also liable.”

Does this mean that the deputies are culpable for damages levied?

A lot of the usual stuff: police accosted them for no real reason and lied about the incident. Internal Affairs clears them of wrongdoing, and both deputies involved are now sergeants.

On the plus side, the daughter who was on her way to a math test on that day in 2019 is graduating from UCLA this year.

No amount of money can heal the pain these citizens suffered at the hands of so called law enforcement. The racism is disgusting. Makes me very angry. Citizens can’t even get coffee. I’m so disgusted right now and will be tomorrow and every day thereafter. I hope everyone is disgusted! Always have phones at the ready. Lucky they didn’t plant anything!
