(16,468 posts)But then she was married at16, had my mother at 17. My mother had me at 18.
Is Boobert's son going to be able to financially take care of a child still going to high school?

(23,812 posts)When son #1 went off to college, only 75 miles away, I thought I was doing pretty well to cry only half the way home after we dropped him off.
He finished college in Dec 2012, and stayed in the our area until 2018. During several visits to college buddies in Phoenix, he met a young lady who captured his heart, and he moved there for her. I cried for weeks before he left. They married in 2020.

I kept chanting to myself, Milwaukee, Poland. Milwaukee, Poland. I can do this.
No way I could have dealt with him going that far away. Phoenix is bad enough. They want to move to British Columbia - augghhhh!

(15,499 posts)If not, what a hypocritical person to crow about becoming a grandmother when she pretends she's all god-fearing and conservative.
Why does this remind me of Sarah Palin's dysfunctional family? I can't believe anyone still thinks Republicans are the party of family values.

(36,742 posts)But Lauren Boebert's 17-year-old can find out about sex by knocking up a 15-year-old?
These hypocritical scolds and their double standards are exhausting.

(11,690 posts)right before I graduated from University. It was super hard. Job prospects were not great. We struggled. If not for the help of family it would have been super difficult. My marriage did not survive the situation.
Thankfully, my oldest son turned 29 this year, graduated from University with an Engineering degree, is steadily employed and is building a nest egg. My younger children, his half siblings, have already been getting "the talk" for the last few years, about relationships, sex, protection, and their futures. We signed consent with no problem for them to get comprehensive sex ed starting in 4th grade.
Thing is Boebert's son is born to wealth, from his father's side. While that wealth didn't keep his dad from acting like a scumbag, it will protect the son materially at least.
Things happen and teenagers make dumb mistakes. The worst thing about this situation, as always, is the hypocrisy with Boebert out there moralizing and Bible thumping but not teaching her kids the sense to not make their lives more complicated than they have to be. Now the poor child will suffer with a very likely immature father, a stupid grandmother, and a pervert scumbag grandfather.

King James Version
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Something tells me she hasn't.

(802 posts)I would love it if baby mama's family and the girl herself decided she could not care for a child now, so opted for an abortion. Colorado is, after all, a state that recognizes a woman's right to body autonomy. I wonder what the"Grandma Boebert" would say then?

(10,068 posts)Both of my grandmothers - children of immigrants, living in a working-class neighborhood, with limited education - had their first children at 24, and became grandparents at 50 and 54. And this was back in the days before reliable contraception or any sort of sex education beyond what your mother told you.
Were both these kids homeschooled?
