(453 posts)I say that because it was what I was told when I was laid off and tried to get permission to work for a non union shop, it was denied. Or more accurately sorry we have no work for you, and we wont give you permission to get a job elsewhere.
I am all for unions but I should not be forced to work for one just to have a job. It should be optional, want to be in one, then be in one. Dont want to be in one, then dont. It should be a choice in my mind.
