I'm sure there will be links soon. Nicole wallace! Yay!!!!
Charles Sykes pundit agrees that it would be unlikely that prosecutors would warn tfg and and then not indict.
Even thought his is the smallest crime, it's significant that this would "break the dam" and allow other indictments to follow.
Bad news: he'll use it to play victim.
Pundit Basile Sminkle says "hats off to Bragg for doing this slowly and carefully.
Nicole said there had been signals that this was coming.
Ari says they have 4 confirmed sources that the DA told tfg he's getting indicted for hush money payments. "Charges are likely". They've told tfg to come in and try to explain things to the grand jury, but he'll refuse.
Gene Robinson: Believes it. This enforces that tfg is liable under the law like everyone. No idea what a sentence would look like in a guilty verdict, but it would establish the law.
Jacqueline Alemany says the timing means this is indictment season. Even smith's trial has to start in the next 3 months to finish before the election season. She hints that there are other important decisions we're going to hear about soon. NY ag wants him talking to the grand jury next week, so, his refusal and the indictment should be only days away.
Violation of state election law because payments to Cohen that cohen paid to daniels was listed as election funds. That's fraud.
Emily Bazelon says GA election tampering could be next, and it's unknown how the different actions in different states would effect each other.
neil Kattyal says "It's a big deal." Combined with GA and Merde lago docs, big deal. This nyt case was stopped and re-started. Must have been a reason for that. Neil says the indictment is indeed likely with this warning.
Neil says it's a felony with up to 4 years jail time because the money was moved in a way to conceal another crime. So, it wasn't really the payoff, but the concealment that will cost him. Gene agrees. They're also reminding us that the indictment needs to come before tfg officially files as a candidate so tfg can't claim it's just a political strategic move.
