I am disappointed that my own two senators were so cowardly that they voted to acquit. However, I wasnt surprised. Marsha Blackburn is pathetic, and Bill Hagerty is such a huge disappointment.
I will be contacting these 7 senators to at least thank them for their votes. I dont believe they will change in terms of aligning themselves with Biden or with Democratic ideals or policies, but I will give them credit for doing the right thing.
I realize that others may have no interest in thanking them but perhaps would still like to contact one or more of them in order to share their thoughts and feelings.
I am surprised that 7 Republicans voted to convict! All of them should have done so. Well, at least these 7 did the right thing.....THIS time.

(21,714 posts)Susan Collins get bold if she knows that there won't be a big consequence to her vote.

(892 posts)They absolutely knew. Susan Collins has proven herself to be extremely wishy-washy. I never expect much of anything from her.

(6,997 posts)This is a constructive and proactive effort on your part.
This is the kind of focus and determination we need. We need to advance on all fronts.
Kudos.

(892 posts)I do realize that not everyone will feel like thanking any of these senators, and I totally understand that. I provided the information for any DUers who may want to contact them for any reason whatsoever, not just to thank them. I do believe that our senators and representatives need to hear from us. It is something I believe strongly. It is a way to act proactively rather than be left feeling utterly powerless and helpless.
I do my small part, regardless of whether they choose to ignore or dismiss what I have to say. I have a voice. It is my responsibility to use it.
I respect others feelings and opinions, of course. Again, thank you.

(51,585 posts)I'll call tonight. I just called Raskin to thank him too.
Edit: just called all of them and Cassidy is the only one with a full mailbox.

He was a joy to listen to and performed in a manner above and beyond.
They all did. It must have been a difficult and emotional task reviewing the evidence and putting together a prosecution that was objective and factual in a highly personal situation.

(33,135 posts)You might want to give former Vice President Mike Pence a nod.
In spite of a very real and immanent threat to his life and limb, he held to democracy on Jan 6th 2021. An act which we learned only yesterday is very uncharacteristic of modern Republicans.
It has become clear that he may be a goob, but, at least he's an American goob.
