Make that ten thousand for their convention next year.

Four people that I predict that will NOT be their nominee:

Donald Trump
Ron DeSantis
Nikki Haley
Mike Pence

Those four only have a chance of being nominated if the Republican big money is positive that the Democrats will keep the White House. If they think there is a ghost of a chance of the Republicans winning the next presidential election, I think that none of those four will be their nominee.

The MAGATS are the Republican base that decides who the nomination is. Only way a moderate Republicans gets in is if TFG and DeSantis split the MAGAT vote, and moderates unite behind one candidate.

be Trump (I said that on the chance that he loses a close reelection race in 2020, which he did).

DeSantis cannot take the blowtorch of Trump (he is foolish to run in 2024, he should bide his time till 2028, regardless of who wins in 2024 general, as both Biden and Trump will be term-limited in the event of a win), and the Rethug PTB are terrified of a Trump 3rd party run if he is not the Rethug nominee.

Nikki Haley and Mike Pence are sideshow clowns, so we agree on them.

Sununu gets crushed in polls in his own state of NH versus Trump, so I see no chance for him at all.

Larry Hogan said no way is he running, as did Ted Cruz, Marsha Blackburn, Tucker Carlson, Tom Cotton, Dan Crenshaw, Joni Ernst, Josh Hawley, Dan Patrick, Rand Paul, Mike Rogers, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Rick Scott, and Scott Walker.

That leaves:

Tim Scott
Glenn Youngkin
Kristi Noem
Greg Abbott
Chris Christie
Asa Hutchinson
Mike Pompeo
Liz Cheney
Doug Ducey
Marco Rubio
Will Hurd
Edited to add Brian Kemp, who I accidently deleted when I sorted this list

Most of those will likely say No! Nein! Nej! Non! Nyet! or are hated by the base, or simply lacking in charisma and/or sufficient wickedness to please the base (or are the wrong skin colour, ie. Scott and Hurd).

IF there was no Trump candidacy, then I think many more would have a run at it, but I just cannot see anyone knocking the POS off atm.

Is there someone I am leaving out?

Who do you think can knock off Trump for the nomination?

Given that a year is an eternity in politics, I think that Trump could easily implode, maybe as soon as 3 months (I give him 9-12).

The current base hates Liz Cheney, but I give her a 10% chance of rehabilitation. Same for Sununu, although being an ethnic Arab (Lebanese) might be a powerful weapon for the Trumpanzees to use against him. Still, if I wanted a shot at the nomination as a Republican, I think a little obscurity might work as an advantage while all the headline grabbers blow money and fizzle out.

Just a theory for the current. It’s how I see it now, but thad rev

who don't give a damn about indictments, but let's say he does) then the path seems pretty clear for DeSantis, IF he actually gets in.

I would say that there is little to no chance a 'moderate' Rethug wins the nomination. There are hardly any moderate Rethugs left, especially after Baker (MA) and Hogan said hard pass. Sununu is about it (and Will Hurd, who has almost no chance) and those NH polls are pretty awful for him in terms of the POTUS.

Still, I have to re-emphasize that a year in politics can be like a glacial age in the real world. Things can turn on a dime.

Don't forget that when that Republican strategist asked me in December 2019 for my prediction for the Democratic nomination in 2020, she was shocked when I said Joe Biden. She said, he's only polling at 3%, so how do you figure THAT? I said, just watch, when all the others with more money and more press exposure fizzle, Joe Biden will be the last man standing--and if he's nominated, he'll win.

I had to emphasize, that wasn't my preference (Jay Inslee was, followed by Amy Klobuchar and Mayor Pete), but it WAS my prediction.

By the way, I saw her again last December, and reminded her of her question and my prediction. She then asked me who I thought would be the Republican nominee in 2024. I said it was too far out to make a prediction just yet, but I DID predict that it would be neither Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump. Haley wasn't in the picture yet (and I don't think she is now, either, except for maybe some wishful thinking at Fox Noise). She didn't disagree with me, and she is from Florida. Or maybe she DID disagree, but didn't dare say so out loud

around, and Kemp (who has not said he will not run) got deleted by accident when I was moving many up to that slot (not running).

I knew when I posted it that something did not look right and it was no Kemp. I just am not sure if he will give up being king dog atm in Georgia for a highly speculative shot at knocking off Trump. I think IF he does make a run, and IF trump somehow starts losing the base, then Kemp is a real player, along with (again IF he runs now) DeSantis and maybe even Youngkin (but he has only been Governor for 14 months in VA).

I edited that post now, btw, thanks!!!
