A more pressing self-pardon question...

Joe Exotic announces run for president

The "Tiger King" is throwing his hat in the ring for the 2024 presidential race.

Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, said on Instagram that he is running for president as a Libertarian.

"Yes, I know I am in Federal Prison and you might think this is a joke but it's not. It is my Constitutional right to do this even from here," says a message from Joe Exotic on his campaign website.

Joe Exotic is currently serving a 21-year prison sentence for a murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin. An appeal to reduce his sentence was denied in December.

Note however- a conviction on Federal charges and imprisonment does not disqualify a person from running for President.

Even if it was a state crimehe was convicted of, the federal government has supremecy and he would be released so as not to impede his duties as potus.

Same for a federal conviction.

He wouldn't need a self pardon until he was no longer in office.
