The right wingers love kilts, they do not see them as skirts. Especially if they are authentic.
If there was a critical mass of kilt wearers (or even just more than one guy wearing a kilt), could there be some kind of chord struck? Some kind of truce?
What about if fashion houses started offering the long caftan things for men that are worn all over the Middle East. And in parts of South Asia? How about what Priests wear at the altar?
What about if ordinary not crazy nut job men just started wearing what these nuts might call dresses? Would it be like everyone in Denmark wearing a Star of David?
Just some thoughts.
The same media that gets us to buy buy buy anything even when we dont have money is working overtime to divide us.

(2,357 posts)take exception to a bunch of political loonies co-opting their native garb. Just the approaching pipes of the Scots' Black Watch regiment in WWII sent Nazis running for cover.

(6,513 posts)This is a good idea. "They" can't control everybody. They are managing to direct their attention to Congressional dress codes and drag queens; perhaps they are the political loonies you mentioned. I find it easy to conform to required dress codes for work, but on my own time, I'll dress however I want. Sometimes, nothing at all.
It is this type of social protest that gets attention. Like Dads wearing tutus to help their daughters, we could all wear kilts, caftans, muu-muus, robes...could make it an unofficial "wear a dress day"...I am uncomfortable in a dress, but I could still manage it.
Get your Buds to show us how it's done. A little education doesn't hurt a thing.

Unless you're going to start doing Highland Reels, you're not challenging the laws.

(6,272 posts)why not punk them with all sorts of regular men wearing for everyday attire things that might be construed by someone somewhere as feminine.
Women wear male style work clothes quite normally now. Remember when pant suits were a big big deal? And when it was even illegal for women to wear pants?
Anyway, I am trying to make the point that we the people have a way to mock these guys. I wonder if these ideas will sprout in their hearts.

Maybe you are better at restraining the urge to waste a bunch of time typing redundant letters. Good work then!
