Bodies are dropping left and right every day, said Senator London Lamar (D), representing District 33 in Memphis. Im sick of hearing gunshots in my neighborhood.
Lawmakers leading the effort said it was a way to address the out of control gun violence in Tennessees urban communities and would reinstate the previous carry regulations. Senator Lamar said the previous legislation had stricter regulations, background checks and gun safety education.

They passed a permit less carry law for the whole state. It used to be you ha to go to class and get a background check for a concealed carry license. No anyone can just carry it. Nashville and Memphis wanted to have more strict rules within the cities but the GOP does not like local rule.

(2,787 posts)has become. On my mom's first birthday after my Dad's death, I gave her three city brochures. I told her to pick one, and that's where I was going to take her for her birthday. One was San Diego, one was Las Vegas, and one was Nashville. She chose Nashville. We had SO much fun. Realize, this was decades ago.
My family was always country music fans. It grew out of the love of folk music. My whole family was musical, and it wasn't odd to have a sitting congress critter visit us with his guitar. Hell, my grandpa and my dad both knew Woody. All my Mom really wanted to do was visit the Ryman and see the Grand Old Opry. We did both, and so much more. We drove for hours throughout the countryside, visiting small cafes, and museums. We did a river boat ride.
It's so sad to think in today's America, that's all gone for me now. It's not that I'm crazy about the music. I'm a 60's-70's rocker. But I did love our time there, and the people we met. Hard to think of them all turned so mean now.
