I heard this last night while I was enjoying the whining on Fox. WE ARE A CENTER LEFT COUNTRY. We have won the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 elections. Anytime I get into a political discussion with any repub, I will remind them of that and watch their head explode.

(14,040 posts)and it's slowly happening within the Democratic party. Adding LGBTQ rights to their plank this year, finally, is a step in the right direction. It means they're getting it and I think leaving God out was an intentional step in the right direction as well. I don't think the Democratic party overlooked that, I think it was their way of trying to remove religion from politics as it has no place there.

the corrosive effect of money in elections favors republicans and keeps democrats dependent on moneyed interests.
this helps them win key state elections which lets them gerrymander and get an edge in congress.
the PEOPLE are center-left, but their voice is rather small by the time it gets to washington.
