and apply the law to that evidence. They don't get to make up shit that's not supported by the evidence or the law to further a political agenda.

Jurors serving in malpractice trials usually don't know anything about medical science either.

I served as a juror on a murder trial. The people on the jury had to be educated on autopsies by both the prosecution and the defense.

I’ve known a lot of judges. I’ve never met one who went to law school because he or she couldn’t get into medical school.

who probably couldn't have gotten into law school, or graduated if they did. Each profession involves very different talents. Remember Ben Carson? Supposedly he was once a brilliant surgeon but wrt anything involving government he turned out to be as dumb as a stump. And then there's "Doctor" Congressman Ronny Jackson. I wouldn't want either of those dumbasses treating my health problems OR representing me in court or judging my case.

These attorneys did the med malpractice defense for our region and they were convinced that they knew more medicine than most doctors.

If you have an investment that does not make sense for an experienced investor who understands the deal, you can always find a doctor who will invest in the deal no matter how stupid the deal is

He said doctors were always getting ripped off because they had money, were too busy to do their due diligence, and thought they were too smart to be fooled.

Judges would be terrible on dealing with the goodness of statistical other decision making practices regarding treatment. All they can do is judge human behavior against the limits of what the law says is legal.

Which nonetheless gives them tremendous latitude to protect the elite.

They need to know the law. Any specific information they need outside of that would come from the testimony of subject matter experts.

It's about the regulatory process that was used by the FDA to approve the drug and whether they followed the law and regulation that existed at the time they approved it. The judge wouldn't be saying, "I ban this drug," but "I void the approval" at which time laws kick into affect regulating it (might results in its ban if the stuff has just one currently approved use).

If the approval's overturned, then the FDA has mechanisms for dealing with much of that. If the judge overturns the approval, I doubt it would withstand appeal and there might be a 25-minute gap during which the drug can't be prescribed. With no way to enforce that brief interval.

If mifespristone has a second approved use that is *not* affected, then doctors can prescribe it off-label.

…was “needed” for Mifepristone despite being provably safer than Tylenol. (Deadline Whitehouse panelist, today)

Second point: because of the battle over its use for abortion, the supply for all other uses has become very dicey. And it does have other uses, such as the treatment of lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Pharmacists question women who have a prescription — as they are allowed to do under Dubya’s “conscience clause” — On the one hand it is none of their effing business why a person is taking a prescribed medication, and on the other hand, they are allowed to do this if they disapprove of abortion.

regardless who your professors are - I knew a few Harvard grads whose legal skills were less than impressive. Wherever he went had to have a reasonable number of bar passes to keep its accreditation. He seems way too stupid to have managed even an undergrad-level constitutional law class. But, as I said before, there are stupid doctors, too - despite the demands of medical school.
