As for the OP, it is more than just a former bush staff that is critical of the way this is being handled, there are quite a few DEMOCRATS who have expressed disappointment, including those involved in the impeachment of trump
Because anyone who thinks the wheels of justice move rapidly has never dealt with the American judicial system.

Our government was almost overthrown on January 6th, and millions of people witnessed it live, along with trump pushing the insurrection in full view and recordings.
There is no doubt those rioters were intent on killing members of Congress

Why did it take two years to appoint a special prosecutor?
Will you be of the same mindset if we lose control in 2024, and the republicans take over?
We are running out of time. If nothing is done this year, will the DOJ really pursue this in an election year?

2) But using your math, the DOJ cut-off is 90 days before the election, which isn't until NOVEMBER 2024, so there is still almost two years left!
