Politico: Republicans Are Delusional If They Think Biden Will Be Easy to BeatAt this juncture, no one else in the country is as likely to be president of the United States come January 2025 as Joe Biden.
Republicans telling themselves otherwise are engaged in self-delusion. There was a palpable sense during the midterms that Republicans were playing with house money — in other words, that the political environment was so favorable that they could afford to make poor choices and still succeed. That was a mistake last year, and absent something terrible befalling Biden or the country over the next two years, is a mistake when thinking about 2024. Biden is not a dead man walking; he’s an old man getting around stiffly. Biden is vulnerable, but certainly electable; diminished, but still capable of delivering a message; uninspiring, but unthreatening. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/03/16/republicans-biden-trump-2024-election-00087242

13. Yes.
Then there's a mythical anti-establishment base yearning for class revolution that thinks Democrats aren't progressive and if not constantly threatened and badgered, pulled/pushed to the Left, they're just like Republicans. This "base" has no idea about the Democratic Party and its history, and it's a shame anyone believes leaders lying to them that Democrats are corrupt and ignore the working/middle class. Really horrible.

I mean, of the Democratic party. And who in the "base" would risk putting T*ump or Death Sentence in the White House?
I've got a hint for you: anyone who would do that is not the base. |

3. They're too busy beating themselves...
with attacks on women's rights, homosexual rights, voting rights, responsible gun laws, education, and libraries. And also all those Republicans who are OK with Russian aggression, and who want to end or at least greatly reduce Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and any other program that actually helps people.
Not to mention the whole concept of people being awake, as opposed to their brain-dead, zombie base. They're so busy pissing off everybody to please their base that they haven't given any thought as to how small their base really is. President Biden is doing a really good job, and his state of the union address showed he's still got the mental ability to carry the nation forward. They should just keep on believing President Biden is weak and ineffectual...it will make it easier for use to win in 2024. |

And maybe he can tell Biden, Zelenskyy and NATO which way the wind blows.
All this right wing psychology is good for DU, huh? Because when Democrats win they're "lucky in your enemies," and Biden could "get a big break" because of their stealth plans to coup the capitol, twist state laws, and then become a minority ruling party. Okay. |

21. Regardless, to throw up a National Review writer's opinion re Biden and his "chances" of
winning, without critiquing the writer, misses the more crucial task of Democrats' winning on the merits of this president, and not on some stupid "luck" spin.
Politico is not Raw Story, in that it's trying to hedge its owners' political bets. |

I should have considered the source.
Watch the SOTU address again, and THEN tell me he is uninspiring. This sounds like some Republican rag pretending to be "reasonable and realistic," but just can't help themselves and have GOT to get their nasty dig in. If I'm around in ten years, I can only HOPE to be as "uninspiring" as Joe Biden is now. |

19. Joe Biden rises to the occasion
He can be very inspiring when it counts. And anyone who stops for a moment and contemplates what he has stood for all of his life, and what he has accomplished, can be deeply inspired by Joe Biden. He isn't intrinsically inspiring, in the manner of an RFK (or for those on the political Right, ugh, Reagan). With Biden it id his decency and substance, rather than style and charisma, that truly shines through.
There is no denying that he is aging, but with Biden that underscores his wisdom. |

33. They often act less politically aware than they are
At the Gridiron Dinner in 1995, when Bill Clinton was down with the Republican success in the 1994 midterms, and Gingrich was riding high as the new nasty aggressive House Speaker, when Clinton gave his speech, he gave it with his usual mastery, had the room eating out of his hand. Gingrich leaned over to tell my mom, seated next to him, and said, “anyone who thinks this guy is gonna be a pushover for re-election is fooling themself.” No matter how much he said in public that his “contract with America” would be Clinton’s political graveyard, he knew that Clinton was a formidable, skilled political opponent who would probably coast to re-election no matter what the Republicans threw at him.
