they're making it so that a teacher can be arrested for replying honestly, since the historical reality will make some students feel troubled.

I certainly felt troubled by many aspects of the history of the struggle for equal rights for all Americans, and I think those feelings helped me to become an empathetic, loving person.

Obviously, not the sort of citizen the fascists want in their society.

"I certainly felt troubled by many aspects of the history of the struggle for equal rights for all Americans, and I think those feelings helped me to become an empathetic, loving person."

The same thoughts have crossed my mind, and I agree completely with you. This country needs more people to feel "uncomfortable" to teach them missing skills.

and they mustn't get away with institutionalizing it.

I'm heartbroken to see how much bad wood there is underneath the veneer.

It's no coincidence that I have books by Langston Hughes and Margaret Atwood at hand right now.

But if you are an educational textbook publisher and don't cater to Texas and Florida, you will be out of business soon.

This is just another reason for me to fight against every having to use textbooks as a teacher.

...while he persecutes LGBTQ, trans, & people with "woke ideology," all of whom are "certain groups of people." Oh the irony.

It's like he's saying "don't focus on race because we're much more than racists, we persecute many groups of people!"

That's not the winning message he thinks it is.

groups of people did not like each other? History is finite and cannot be changed. Sugarcoating something does not make it go away.
Aren't these so call Christian hypocrites then denying the Bible? John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

It will be to the detriment of this country. He is spear heading a division that WILL not have the outcome he plans on.
Minorities know the truth about history and have no intention of repeating it. Come what may, minorities will not bow down
to the Hell that these Satan wannabes are trying to create.

So we can't mention race in our American history books? I can't begin to tell you how insane this is. When talking about the Native Americans are the books going to say "A certain group of people lived in teepees and were kicked off the land by another certain group of people and made to live on reservations." Obviously the kids will ask who these certain groups of people were. Are teachers not allowed to say? Is it going to be a secret? Yes let's completely dumb down the curriculum! Hey why mention POC at all? Pretend that everybody in America's past was a white Christian! Problem solved!

Next step: make the dark skinned people sit in the back of the bus again, after all, they are a hurtful reminder of America's uncomfortable past.
