Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) urged the Texas state bar to carefully consider the fitness of certain Stanford University law school graduates after a protest over a conservative judges speaking engagement on the campus, The Hill reports.
Cruz in a letter to Texas officials said there is a fundamental question over whether the students who protested the appearance by Kyle Duncan, a circuit judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, are fit to practice law in Texas.

(10,199 posts)that law students who would protest abhorrent views would want to work in a state that leads the nation in such abhorrent views.

(5,279 posts)I will never support blocking someone from speaking at a college or university, if you want to protest counter their information.

(7,290 posts)I would never say they arent fit to practice law, but I have I no respect for anyone, regardless of their political bent, who shouts down and heckles the speech of those with whom they disagree. And that goes double when the speaker is actually invited to speak.
Protest outside, yell, scream, wave signs, whatever. But Ill never support shouting down speech to prevent it from being heard by myself or others.
