Because most know Jimmy Carter as a former president, not as president, his so-so record has been eclipsed by his undeniably successful retirement years.

“He has essentially invented what the post-presidency can be,” Fallows said. “There was no template for what Carter would end up doing. He has invented the role of ‘former president’: home builder, peace advocate, disease fighter, election monitor.”

We were talking at my invitation. Head speechwriter for the first half of Carter’s term, and the youngest person to hold that job, Fallows, 73, and a Redlands High School alumnus, is likely the only person from the IE who spent substantial time with Carter.

being re-visited and exposed for this generation. There is a lot about the Feds to not like and to be wary of. But especially when the GOP is in major control of the Presidency and powerful positions in both the House and Senate, they are a danger to the country.
The historical record is there for the reading, from the civil rights era, through Watergate, Whitewater, Viet Nam, Ellsworth, how the GOP promised to obstruct Obama even before he was sworn in, right up to J6 and today. The GOP is now and has been, especially since the "Diixicrats" moved from the Dem to the GOP, a clear and present danger to everyone who is not rich, white, proclaimed Christian and male.
