Ah, it was central to a number of the conversations that Rubin Carter and I had during what his supporters refer to as his "Buddha phase" while he was still incarcerated. I've found myself thinking of those discussions frequently in recent times, as I witness people mistaking what the spiritual process actually means ..... and that includes not only the right wing being without ANY understanding, to well-intentioned folks on the left that have only a limited understanding, similar to an acorn that mistakes iitself for a mighty oak tree.
