HuffPostSecurity guards at a Florida strip club are being hailed heroes after authorities say they disarmed a masked man who was attempting to enter the venue and potentially stopped a mass shooting.
Surveillance video taken early Sunday shows a man in a red and black devil mask appear to casually walk up to the Mons Venus club in Tampa with a gun and flashlight in his hands before a fast-acting security guard stopped him.
Police said Michael Rudman, 44, had two fully loaded magazines in his pocket as well as additional ammunition, knives and firearm accessories in his truck. The words KILL and DARKK ONE were written on his arms.

Security guard Manuel Manny Resto was standing outside the front entrance when he first noticed Rudmans truck blocking cars in the parking lot, he said.

(11,830 posts)and I think the guard got really lucky he was able to knock the gun out of his hand. HOWEVER it seemed like he kept kicking the guy when he was down.

(66,316 posts)That security guard is a hero.
Not only did the good guy not have a gun, he managed to get the bad guy's gun away from him.
Give that security guard a medal, a very large reward, and the key to the city.
you're right, one would have to ensure he's not going to get back up. I wasn't thinking of it in that light.

(66,316 posts)even though the guard was pointing the gun at him. He must have been counting on the guard to exhibit the behavior pattern that decent people have, which is to be very hesitant and reluctant to shoot a firearm at somebody.
Fortunately, the security guard's courage didn't fail him, and he managed to get the guy down. Personally, I don't think a few kicks to the head would have been out of line. The creep was obviously hopped up on gun-madness.

There was a reasonable fear for life & safety.
I'd take my chances in court.

(66,316 posts)But it's not something you would have done with evident glee. Nobody wants to have to do something like that. And no jury would convict you. Certainly no jury I was on.

(64,993 posts)I wouldn't want to, but someone violent enough to rush a gun pointed at them is dangerous!
There's nothing to negotiate with someone that bent on doing harm.

So its like they are intruding into their house and waste a bunch of their sisters.
