Please take a few moments to check out my photos from the Point Mugu Air Show this past weekend. This was the first time the Navy held the show since the beginning of the Pandemic.

(3,155 posts)Traffic was horrendous. I tried to get there on Saturday, but Las Posas Road was backed up for four miles. I gave up and went home. I came back on Sunday morning before they opened. I'm sure it was breathtaking from where you were sitting. I'm jealous.
I have friends who go out there on a regular basis and shoot the arrivals from the little park at the front gate.

(3,155 posts)It was great seeing them parked right next to each other on the tarmac.

(46,579 posts)That must have been really neat.
I hate to admit it, but the Blue Angels are really sharp looking and put on one
hell of a show.
When I was a kid in a USAF family, the kids were totally against the Navy
having airplanes. We had a love-hate relationship with the Navy.

(3,155 posts)I enjoyed all the pomp and circumstance attached to their performance.

(46,579 posts)USAF doesn't have that long of a history.
And they were never big on pomp and circumstance like the Navy.
I hardly ever saw Air Force personnel saluting each other.
As Air Force kids we didn't think the Navy had a right to fly airplanes.
The Air Force didn't get to sail ships.
The Pentagon let the Navy do whatever they wanted.
Cuter uniforms, airplanes, beautiful ships, crazy ranks, strange occupational names, bigger post exchanges.
And of course the Army had horses.
ETA We didn't think it was fair and our dads couldn't explain it to us.
