If they wanted Stahl to howl back at mtg whenever she lied, it would have played right into mtg’s hands.
As it was, I saw every tweet Stahl quoted verified onscreen whilst mtg was busy denying she did just what was on the screen. Stahl was walking a fine line because the minute mtg breaks out the crazy, you’re on her turf, I don’t care who you are, and Stahl knew exactly how it would look.
That 15-20% of the ultra maga base that will never be swayed should never be the target, and they weren’t Stahl’s last night.
Mtg thinks she scored last night, but she is wrong, she lost. To her enablers and fans she looked weak because she was so tame, obviously trying to white wash her past. We all know she craves the VP anointing more than most. Even her one screed was milquetoast when she went off about “you gonna fact check everything I did and turned in, all the way back to kindergarten?”, but the damage there had already been done, they had just showed video of her chirping at Parkland student survivors.
It wasn’t as blood boiling a watch as I expected, I think Stahl did well, and mtg was exposed as grasping, stupid, and sly by most standards. Look, honestly, mtg doesn’t deserve anything more that a journalistic hit job, but that type of an interview would have had no credibility.
Still, I haven’t gone online to watch any of the added content on their website, so I’m not that brave.
