(4,741 posts)Willfully peddling Whitewater, Troopergate, Filegate, Travelgate, the exaggerations about Gore sighing or his supposed exaggerations about his Senate record, all the lies about WMD in Iraq, warmongering coverage of the Iraq invasion, all the Swift Boat lies, every stupid accusation about the Obamas (tan suits! Dijon on a burger!), tea party astroturf lies, r lies about the ACA, Benghazi, buttery males, Clinton Cash, Clinton Foundation "improprieties," the whining of "economically anxious" white trash, empty podiums for a traitorous fat dirtbag--and MORE!
IOW, it's a day ending in y, and CNN is doing what they've been doing for the better part of 30 years now: Amplifying anything negative about Democrats that they can, and fluffing members of the traitor party.
Why expect anything different from them now?

(124,819 posts)The legal talking heads on MSNB seem quite a bit more optimistic. The case isn't a slam dunk because it raises some untested issues, but Andrew Weissman and Dan Horowitz seem pretty sanguine.

(10,664 posts)guilty of a classified docs misdemeanor. At the end, the FBI/DoJ felt she was not or should not be prosecuted based on how they had handled similar cases.
There have been ample examples of NY prosecuting these charges for lesser criminal acts like fraudulently pretending you have been vaccinated for Covid or using some else's driver's license to avoid legal problems.
https://www.justsecurity.org/85605/survey-of-past-new-york-felony-prosecutions-for-falsifying-business-records/
There are 34 felonies in this NY indictment. They start out as misdemeanors for falsifying business records. But with ties to NY State and Federal election crimes and tax crimes associated with those falsified business records, that elevates them to felonies => beyond the "Lock Her Up!" bar Republicans set in 2016.
If there is nothing to these charges, that is why the courts are there - to sort it out.
Trump is innocent until proven guilty.
So I do not get the big beef from the GOP on that.
A majority of a Grand Jury of 23 of Trump's peers decided the preponderance of the evidence support Trump's guilt 34 times. It is insulting to the integrity of those jurors to suggest those jurors were merely politically motivated.
Republicans were not howling too loudly when Michael Cohen and Allen Weisselberg were sent to prison for crimes just like these. What's up with that? Trump Org was convicted of 17 crimes. But to the Republicans, the ring leader who benefitted the most, shouldn't be held accountable - which is hypocritical BS when you look at what they put Hillary through.
One other thing many are not saying:
Bragg is not done.
He squeezed Weisselberg on Zurich Insurance fraud.
Weisselberg switched lawyers - he still needs a lawyer.
He is in a contagious prisoner section of Rikers, so he won't get Epsteined as easily, until April 19th.
After that, they can offer him a more secure situation to get him to flip instead of going back to prison for years for insurance fraud.
Another thing almost no one is saying.
This is an old case.
There will be an argument over the statute of limitations.
I think they currently have a defendable position but each day they didn't file the indictment, that statute of limitations predicament got worse. They probably HAD to file it now.
The DA's office is not allowed to chat with GA and DC to orchestrate which charges come first.
They're supposed to bring them when they're ready.
Trump could be convicted of all 34 felonies and because he's a 1st offender, etc, he could get off without serving any prison time If this case is the first to be sentenced, it could help the subsequent cases get harsher sentences. So that is one more reason to bring it.

Youve obviously put a lot of thought into it, maybe you should create a new post.

(10,664 posts)It made this claim
"CNN commentators saying little or nothing there in indictment"
I think my response addresses that with some specific points and context of why they did what they did, etc.
It is such a broad statement, I addressed the broad criticisms of the indictment that I've heard today that seem to fall under their main statement.
They said "nothing there", I said there are 34 felonies there and provided how they were flipping the misdemeanors to felonies per Bragg and others.
They said "nothing there" I said "A majority of a Grand Jury of 23 of Trump's peers decided the preponderance of the evidence support Trump's guilt 34 times" which to me is something.
They said "nothing there" I pointed out Cohen & Weisselberg were sent to prison for these crimes or similar ones.
etc. Shouldn't have to go through my whole post.
