gradually making previously abhorrent words and actions "just the way things are".
If someone proposes decapitation as the penalty for shoplifting, but "compromises" and agrees to "only" severing one hand, today's normalizers would accept that with a few "tsk-tsks" and looks of resignation.
"It could have been worse!" does not render an abomination "Okay".
I am left to ask, loudly, "WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO PISS US OFF?"
This post was inspired by hearing a televised discussion about how "maybe" some Republican like Chris Christie or Tim Scott could, not disown or criticize Trump, but "build on" the things he did.
Excuse me all to hell, but this amounts to saying that MORE racism, religious bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, --- MORE FASCIST ASSHOLERY!--- is just what may "save" the GOP and, therefore, America.
This crap will NEVER be "Okay"!

(11,745 posts)Trump should run on his record because he accomplished a lot of good things. The problem with this claim is that no one backs it up by listing those good things. The only thing Ive seen is praise from evangelicals for appointing right-wing religious extremists to the SC and federal benchthe same judges who are now ripping our laws apart to privilege the religious beliefs of a minority.
The mainstream media should be as outraged ass we are about what Republicans are doing.

(5,201 posts)shootings everyday in local news no matter what part of the country you live in and mass shootings an average everyday somewhere in the country. Guess what party I blame for that. They all need to GO. They should all be locked up charged with accessory to murder for what they were hired to accept by the gun lobby.

Just get away from it for a while. Turn off the news, take a break. Calm down, it takes a while to turn a ship around.

DU is the only place I dont have to do it.
I agree. All trump did was show me just how much racist hate Americans have and have ALWAYS HAD. And yes there are many who are not trumpers. Yet that does not change the fact that trump is still the maestro of a major political Party and millions upon millions of Hitler-loving jackasses. We even have one on the Supreme Court or is a close, close friend with one. We better get our shit together and come together and drown metaphorically speaking these pieces of human garbage.
Slavery was the poison of this democracy and we haven't yet been able to systemically clean ourselves of the hate engendered thereof.
Generation upon generation has passed and millions still follow a racist dummy and his handlers.

(7,725 posts)That is normal ends when a progressive voice shouts their disgust with the outrageous. That is, per usual, simply not tolerated.

So, yes, exactly what is that PUSH TOO FAR ???
For me, it was Bush v. Gore.
But now, it doesn't appear to be anything at all.
