It's nice when our leaders are respected abroad and asked to speak to their governing bodies.
That didn't happen so much when TFG and GWB were in the White House.
It reminds me of what we've lost. I've heard a story that may be apocryphal about JFK. As the Cuban Missile Crisis grew, the White House was presenting its case to western democracies. At one point, Charles de Gaulle - not one to kow-tow to American policy - said something like "well - if the evidence is good enough for the President of the United States, it's good enough for me."
Can you imagine that being said at any time between 2001 and 2008? Or between 2017 and 2020?
