I don't have to listen or counter them, I just have to get enough votes from like minded people to keep their views out of office. That is voting morality through the ballot box. Thanksgiving yelling matches never converted anyone.

And its pretty pointless. They will never accept they are wrong so you are just pounding your head in to a wall for no good reason.

Believe me, if you want a relationship with those people you have to just firmly refuse to talk politics.

I titled the original those right wingers you can't or won't cut-off. All the ones you can't stand you probably cut-off anyway. Sometimes though you have people in very tough situations in their life, a brother-in-law serving in Afghanistan or a desperately ill relative, that engagement in politics with them only makes their situation worse. I only intended this post to assist people who are in such situations themselves. I agree with you, if there are relationships you want to keep, politics becomes the third rail. Peace.
