Is it "Joe Biden is too old," or "Kamala Harris is too black and female?"
There may be some in the first camp, but I bet there's a lot that fear our intrepid veep stepping up if she needs to.

2. The "old" thing was never convincing, it was the latter -- but people won't admit it.

4. They are all in on Biden being old
People who don't see other media might not realize, but the Rightwing media are running stories daily on Biden's age, it's all they talk about. With headlines like, "Why are they hiding Joe Biden?", and "Something is really wrong with Joe Biden!" It's a non stop drumbeat and it's highlighted by selective edits of his speeches that just collect the time he stumbles on a word or mispronounces something, something all politicans do if they're giving speeches daily.
There's about 20% of the country that honestly believes Joe Biden is a near vegetable. And then when he gives a great speech they explain it away that it was a one off they prepared weeks for. It's a constant drum beat and even a lot of people on the left are starting to partially buy it. |

5. I suggest Biden step down and hand the reigns to Kamala and see how many people have heart attacks
He could do this temporarily for medical reasons or whatever but it will help ID the crazies. I proposed that when Pelosi was still Speaker of the House they could try this and then have Harris step down and hand the Presidency to Pelosi. I just wanted to see how many Repug heads we could make explode. (This is a joke).

6. I hear more about Biden's age. But it's both. I don't think
it's so much that she's black as much as it's because she is because she's a really strong competent woman.
That's scary. |

7. It's both
Just look at what is happening with Diane Feinstein, who is 89. Biden would be 86 at the end of his presidency, only 3 years younger. He may not have any memory or health issues and I am praying every day that he doesn't. But the problem is that voters will be thinking about whether they have ever had a parent or grandparent develop a serious health or memory issue before the age of 86. If they have (and MOST of us have), this may be something that they are concerned about.
We will not lose democrat votes. It's independents we need to be concerned about. And yes, the "Kamala Harris is too black and female?" piece of it is just as important for those same voters. We saw that Hillary, the most qualified candidate ever to run, got defeated in 2016 by a man who can't even read a 1 page briefing memo because of sexism. Harris would have to overcome that PLUS racism and anyone worried about Joe's health would then have to consider whether they would vote for Harris outright if she were at the top of the ticket, the candidate herself. Again, it isn't the democrats we need to worry about. We are going to vote for our ticket no matter what. Republicans are going to vote for theirs. It's independents who will decide this. And that's what scares me. |
