(CNN) Karen Santorum, wife of Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, defended her husband Monday against same-sex marriage proponents targeting the former Pennsylvania for his social conservative views.
"I think it is very sad what the gay activists have done out there. They vilify him, and it is so wrong," Karen Santorum said at a South Carolina forum. "Rick does not hate anyone. He loves them. What he has simply said is marriage shouldn't happen."

THIS is the sort of thing he and his wife should be called on the carpet about.

Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that's okay, contraception is okay. It's not okay. It's a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be."

(35,694 posts)people opposed to interracial marriage. No bigotry there, right. I am just saying that marriage shouldn't happen.....
Of course even that is a mighty piece of spin by Mrs. Santorum. What about comparing gay marriage to polygamy and bestiality? Or did we just imagine "man on dog"?

(70,449 posts)BTW this is what Rick said:
Every society in the history of man has upheld the institution of marriage as a bond between a man and a woman. Why? Because society is based on one thing: that society is based on the future of the society. And that's what? Children. Monogamous relationships. In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing. And when you destroy that you have a dramatic impact on the quality --

(27,670 posts)Ricky doesn't hate us. He is just doing his job according to what Jesus said about LGBT's!
Oh...oh, yeah...there's no record anywhere of Jesus saying anything about LGBT's.
OK, then...Ricky just wants to persecute LGBT's because of the profound love he has in his heart for us. That makes sense. Kind of like the compassionate burning of witches because it is God's will.
I totally get it now...why, it's not hate at all. He's harming others out of his great love for them.
Ricky's just doing his job the best way he knows how.
From the OP article:
Along with his wife, Santorum weighed in on Monday, saying some people misinterpret his views against same-sex marriage as attacks.
"I'm doing what I'm called to do, which is love everyone and accept everybody," the candidate said. "But this is a public policy difference, and I think that some see that public policy difference as a personal assault."
Santorum controversy regarding homosexuality
The Santorum controversy arose over Republican former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum's statements about homosexuality and the right to privacy. In an interview with the Associated Press (AP) taped on April 7, 2003,[1] and published April 20, 2003, Santorum stated that he believed mutually consenting adults do not have a constitutional right to privacy with respect to sexual acts. Santorum described the ability to regulate consensual homosexual acts as comparable to the states' ability to regulate other consensual and non-consensual sexual behavior, such as adultery, polygamy, child molestation, incest, sodomy, and bestiality, whose decriminalization he believed would threaten society and the family, as they are not monogamous and heterosexual.
Many Democratic politicians, gay rights advocates, the Log Cabin Republicans, and progressive commentators condemned the statements as homophobic and bigoted,[1] while some conservatives supported Santorum's beliefs.[2] The controversy carried over into Santorum's presidential campaign in 2011.[3][4][5]

(4,876 posts)He just believes certain people are inferior to him and those people should in no way be afforded the rights he worked so hard for.
50% of every heterosexual marriage ends in DIVORCE. Now that is what I call respecting marriage.
And I believe by "gay activists" she means "Dan Savage". And Dan has warned them. "Don't continue with this shit or I'll make your first name as "google worthy" as your last...
I guess she isn't listening. Bring on the new meaning of the word RICK...
