White House seizes on Gaetz 'hostage' remark on debt ceiling
White House officials Wednesday put a spotlight to remarks by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in which he said some Republicans do not feel they should negotiate with their “hostage” in debt ceiling talks.
Biden administration officials pointed to Gaetz’s comments to argue that the GOP has created a “manufactured crisis” around efforts to raise the debt ceiling. “This is a manufactured crisis, plain and simple,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters at a briefing. “They’re saying the quiet thing out loud, referring to the full faith and credit of the United States as a ‘hostage,’” she added, as Gaetz’s quote was displayed on a screen over her shoulder. https://www.yahoo.com/news/white-house-seizes-gaetz-hostage-185439341.html

13. this election will be different
Because we have a whole generation that is really cynical about broadcast media, and generally ignores it. They use social media and, judging from some posts there, they are sick of the GOP's games and lies, and how the GOP has made their lives nearly impossible.
And that the weak spot that should be taken advantage of -let them know why housing prices are up and wages are suppressed - show how the GOP votes to stop wage increases, stop student loan relief, and show how they have given tax breaks to the super rich, like Musk's 200 Billion worth, paying 1.2% tax. If anything will turn them against the GOP is will be showing how giving tax breaks to the super rich, is affecting the new generation's lives. I mean, a steady stream of posts like "multi billionaire xxx payed 1.2% in taxes last year, due to tax breaks. How much did YOU pay in taxes? The GOP does everything it can to hide its connection to the super rich, so broadcast the heck out of. |

5. FFS - Gaetz could run for governor of the Sunshine State in 2026
I've heard this mentioned several times. Time to saw Florida loose and let it sink!
"Several colleagues and those in Florida Republican circles anticipate Gaetz could run for governor of the Sunshine State in 2026 after Gov. Ron DeSantis leaves office. DeSantis is expected to run for the White House in 2024." https://www.politico.com/news/2023/02/16/matt-gaetz-florida-governor-00083366 |

12. Matt Gaetz, Ron DeSantis, and Marjorie Taylor Greene
got swept up in a storm and found themselves in Oz. The Munchkins told the trio that there was a wizard in the castle who could fulfill their wishes and then send them home. As they followed the Yellow Brick Road Ron DeSantis said "When I see the wizard I'm going to ask for a heart." Marjorie Taylor Greene said "I'm going to ask for a brain." Matt Gaetz said "I wonder where Dorothy is?"

15. Democrats need to shout this from the rafters. We all know it's true, and now they've admitted it.
We should hammer this until it is clear to every voter in the country. It's not politics, it's terrorism, thuggery, and anti-democracy.

16. Tell Everyone
Thos needs to be all over the news. TV commercials with the quote. Also highlight the scumbags votes to raise the limit without conditions when the orange idiot was in the White House.
