1. I wonder
Does this end up resurrecting the Bush family? George P. Bush lost to Paxton, so perhaps he gets the appointment should a conviction and removal take place.

3. Paxton Called for the GOP House Leader to Resign After Showing Up Drunk in the Chamber
No doubt that encouraged him to push for Paxton's impeachment. Paxton is under investigation by the Feds now so he was going to be taken down sooner or later.

5. The impeachment was in the works for some time
Paxton called out Phelan because Paxton knew that the impeachment hearing was coming and that there were the votes in the committee to approve the articles

4. I think Paxton's wanting the taxpayers to pay for his revenge politics
Paxton’s corruption wasn’t working out in his favor when his staff reported on his corruption. Kenny fired them, they didn’t take it very well and exposed more of Kenny’s corruption. I read the articles of impeachment. Ken is extremely corrupt and needs to go. |

6. Paxton wanted the legis to appropriate $3.3 million to settle a lawsuit filed against Paxton
The legis rejected funding the settlement and instead brought the impeachment proceedings

8. Here are the 20 articles of impeachment filed against Ken Paxton
I love 8 and 9
https://www.texastribune.org/2023/05/25/ken-paxton-20-articles-impeachment/ The 20 articles of impeachment against state Attorney General Ken Paxton, filed Thursday night in the Texas House, accused the Republican official of a range of criminal acts that the full Texas House will be asked to vote upon.
Rep. Andrew Murr, R-Junction, who leads the House General Investigating Committee, which recommended that Paxton be impeached, told House members that the articles allege “grave offenses.” According to House Resolution 2377, those accusations were.....: Article 8, disregard of official duty Paxton misused his official powers by “concealing his wrongful acts in connection with the whistleblower complaints.” To settle the whistleblowers’ lawsuit, Paxton agreed to pay them $3.3 million from public funds. The agreement “conspicuously delayed the discovery of facts and testimony at trial, to Paxton’s advantage” and deprived voters of the opportunity to make an informed decision in the 2020 election for attorney general, the resolution said. Article 9, constitutional bribery Paxton engaged in bribery in violation of Article 16 of the Texas Constitution when he benefited from Paul’s decision to employ a woman “with whom Paxton was having an extramarital affair.” “Paul received favorable legal assistance from, or specialized access to, the office of the attorney general,” the resolution said. |
