Anyone else noticed something strange about their YouTube feed today?

In my case it is some really sad stuff. And it started this morning and it's getting sadder and more heartbreaking as the day went on.

The algorithm usually suggested things that I have an interest in. But definitely not today.

I've ran security checks on my phone, checked to make sure I'm the only one logged into my Google account, all of it.

But something must be going on with YouTube. Thought to see if anyone else have noticed something strange today.

This is been a strange day for me, I guess.
Because this is definitely not what I watch.
Guess algorithms can have bad days.

And the part of the algorithm in charge of my suggestions must be having a REALLY bad day.

2. Did you watch a "sad" clip that triggered the algorithm?

I usually get right wing crazy clips if I watch any videos about TFG because the algorithm would think I am interested in clips that is about TFG, including right wing ones. So I tries really hard not to watch anything about TFG, even from MSNBC.

Only news feed have been about if they passed the budget or not. Everything else has been my usual happy stuff.
I use YouTube to help my mood more than anything else these days.

12. For me..

Sad is definitely what they think I want to see.
I don't want to see custody hearings, or stuff about animal abuse, or about people in grief, music videos about death, videos about people's most horrific events, and others that are out to make a person depressed.

15. Been doing that.

And the suggestions just keep getting worse.

I hope this is a glitch that they are working on and not the start of something bigger. People are depressed enough without these type of suggestions.

And I am now on Premium YouTube. I felt guilty using an add blocker. People werent getting paid for me to watch, so I decided to stop the ad blocker and get Premium.

13. Youtube is such a pain to configure

However, if you do have an account you can hover over the caption on a suggested video, locate the three-dot icon, click it and choose either: Not interested, Don't recommend channel or Report.

16. Been doing that since this morning.

But the suggestions keep getting worse.
As I said in another post up top. I hope it's just a glitch and they're working on it.

18. I turned off the auto-delete history feature for Youtube

That improved my feed a lot.

and, yes, my algorithm has been sending more gruesome than usual stuff.

21. You need to 'train' YouTube

On your home page there is a three dot symbol directly underneath the thumbnail of each video. Hover your pointer under the right corner of the video and it will appear. Left click gives you some options including: "Not Interested" and "Do not recommend channel".

You may have watched or clicked something of this type and naturally, the algorithm think you want a zillion suggestions of the same thing.
