(3,213 posts)One for the rich and famous, one for everybody else.
It's a proven fact that the DoJ is treating Trump with kid gloves and has been for years.

(7,112 posts)I was so mad Nixon got pardoned, I didnt vote after 1980. Until, Obama came on the scene. 911 really woke me up and after that, I had to STUDY to understand the political system and what had happened. Reagan raised my waitress taxes and I thought I knew they were all crooks. The 90s was a blur.
Now, DU is my homepage.

(3,095 posts)criminal punishment is now a commodity, a multi billion dollar industry. And like any industry the commodity that drives profits, in this case "criminals" will be nurtured, protected and obtained in the largest quantities at the cheapest prices possible and recycled when possible because those commodities are pre-processed and represent recursive income. Thats why we imprison more people per capita than any other country. $$$$$$
Its fucking disgusting

(4,839 posts)Remember the "Papers Please" law in Arizona that Governor Jan "Cruella" Brewer instituted? It was just a way to round up more 'customers' for her campaign manager who was tied to Corrections Corporation of America, the largest private prison company in the country.
Fking disgusting indeed! These mofos belong in one of their Grey Bar Hotels.

(82,383 posts)it's his particular privilege. Whether white defendants have it easier, when they are average, than POC is another question. TFG is getting preferential treatment beyond ordinary white defendants.
It's because he was POTUS.

(82,383 posts)it wouldn't have been the same for Obama as for any regular defendant. The secret service protection issue alone would make him in a better position than the average white defendant. Obama would never do any such thing, though. You'd have to picture a potential corrupt black President.

And he's being given privileges the rule of law would give to no one else.
So the jury is still out, so to speak, on whether no one is above the law, or whether some people are, and one of those is Donald Trump.

(14,043 posts)He has gotten the platinum spoon treatment his whole life in everything.
He expects it, too, which may make it more difficult to enforce. Many people would have some sense of shame. Even Nixon had enough to resign. Even Nixon didn't take classified documents, and even Nixon would have returned them is taken by accident.

(860 posts)That Mr. Brian Hopkins gets elected. He posted a truthful and honest tweet. Its true the difference for the rich and the poor are apparent. Its just not fair how differently people are treated. I grew up poor in the south and have seen it up close. We always say its who you know and who you blow. If you have a lot of money and are well known you get special treatment. The rest of us can just rot in jail. I read a post today that said our justice system is just as bad as our health care system. Nothing could be more true.
Jan. Georgia please elect Mr Hopkins Yall can get rid of large Marge too while youre at it.

(2,274 posts)I've been debating with myself posting a opinion here saying essentially the same thing. Too afraid of being called a Dick Downer I guess. The amount of deference shown this orange piece of shit is infuriating to me. No bail. Essentially no restrictions. Walked out a free man with charges like he has?!? Its INSANE! Its not fair. Yes, I'm overjoyed he was arrested and charged. But damn!!!!! He didn't even have to give up his passport!
Its double standards like this that WILL cause a revolution eventually.

(6,618 posts)Dump's treasonous behavior is the worst crime you can commit against our country and doesn't deserve any preferential treatment. In the old days, he would be marched to the guillotine.

(4,671 posts)the investigation lasts months, then he better be convicted of high-level murderous lawlessness, mind-controlled domestic terrorism that caused many suicides by starving (perhaps by other methods?) and also, what happened to the missing children??? Are Kenyans guilty until proven innocent, hence his detention. With a name like pastor Paul MacKenzie is he even Kenyan??? Not even close to what TFG has done to this nation's national security or what SCOTUS has done to its own integrity by not following the ROL processes for the rest of public servants, or the misogny shown the women of this country - All appalling beyond words...JUST APPALLING the deference he's still being shown that so enhanced his sociopathy and criminality all his life!

(65,510 posts)He should have been jailed when he stole from his charity, instead the light, scarcely binding admonition that he received.
He should have been frogmarched in shackles, shoved into the back of a squad car and thrown in jail pending trial.
Worse is done to petty criminals nationwide every hour of every day, and I'd venture that none of them sold nuclear secrets to foreign powers.

(105,631 posts)I mean shit, these are the most patriotic people who've ever patrioted, and an act of espionage committed by a former president has been committed that borders on treason, and they're doing everything they can to obstruct real justice from being committed. It's completely criminal.

(9 posts)Has anyone noticed the courtroom drawing of Trump by Wm Hennessy?
Is it me or does it make him look like a 20 yo movie star with perfect hair and trim. I was flabbergasted. No wrinkles? Talk about bias and being treated differently
