Echoes of 1917 Russian military collapse that led to the Revolution or the failed coup ending the SU

Russia has had historic potential for instability and the rebellion against Putin and his war in Ukraine could have far reaching consequences. One lesson is that those who begin the destabilization may not be around to benefit in the end, and that how things end is not easily predictable.

Ukraine may significantly benefit from the chaos, especially if the Russian military is distracted for too long.

interesting contrast.
But I was thinking more of the mutinies in the Russian forces in 1917, due to heavy losses, that led the the Tsar's abdication.

a rapid change in leadership rather than a “failed” mutiny.

Prigozhin has questioned the justifications for the war publicly, and showing that Putin is vulnerable-- Putin will neutralize him. His continued existence probably can't be tolerated by Putin.

There's room for only one strongman in Russia --First rule of authoritarian leadership.

But the ghosts of 1917 will haunt Putin now-- he placed Russia in a similar situation to WW I-- involved his country in a losing protracted war, and the truth of what has been happening in Ukraine has now the possibility of reaching the Russian populace.
