Will the GOP object to Obama's large inaugural balls?

We should predict the outrages in advance.

They will probably compare the size of Obama's inaugural balls to the size of every other president, and be apoplectic over Obama's massive inaugural balls.

"Suspend your huge inaugural balls" will be the teabaggers' next demand.

But I used to live in the DC area, and I noticed that whenever Republicans had won the Presidency, bad taste in Inaugural outfits came to the forefront. Really. One year (Reagan was elected that year) I had the dubious privilege of working for a local department store, and it was hilariously awful what people were buying, giddy with anticipation of attending some Inaugural event of some kind.

When Democrats won, there was a more subdued atmosphere.

Rebuilding after hurricane Sandy. Wouldn't that be interesting if the ball could actually be put to good use in raising money for that or the redcross.

Should Democrats be "thrifty" and limit the overall size and budget of this event? I mean sure the first go round it was monumental, but this is round 2. This would be a perfect time to show our ability to save money wherever possible!
