I completely believe the no Jews sign.
People seem eager to downplay the antisemitism we're clearly seeing. Is an odd impulse.

(25,312 posts)whose mother was an English teacher in Turkey. The student was married to an American that she had met when he was stationed in Turkey with the Army.
There are also a lot of Brits living in Turkey and a lot of Brits who go there as tourists. Tourists from other countries often also know English so it's convenient to have signs in English for them as well as for Brits and Americans.

(4,112 posts)English/American is often used as a "secondary" language in touristy areas that have a lot of American/British tourists, I would imagine. Possible media thrust at American Jews, also.

However I suspect to the people who lost a third of their worldwide population to a hatred that is still strong today, it is both a warning and reminder. I believe they take it very seriously.
