Robin Hood in reverse

Kansas isnt much of an Occupy Wall Street-type state. But Gov. Sam Brownbacks tax-reform plan, which raises taxes on the poor while cutting taxes on the wealthy, might turn it into one.
Its certainly causing people, including some fiscal conservatives, to scratch their heads and wonder what the administration is thinking.

But because Brownback also wants to eliminate several tax deductions and credits, Kansans who earn less than $25,000 a year more than half a million tax filers would end up paying an average of $156 more in income taxes. Meanwhile, those making more than $250,000 a year about 21,000 taxpayers would see an average cut of $5,200.
All total, low-income taxpayers would pay $88.2 million more in taxes under Brownbacks plan while the wealthy would pay $110 million less.

Ministers to deliver petitions calling on Kansas Speaker ONeal to step down

Topeka Two pastors will deliver more than 30,000 petition signatures calling for the resignation of House Speaker Mike ONeal for an email he forwarded that referred to President Barack Obama and a Bible verse that states, Let his days be few and brief.
The petition put together by the online network Faithful America criticizes ONeal, R-Hutchinson, for using scripture to pray for Obamas death.
The petition reads: As people of faith, we believe that scripture should never be used to justify praying for the death of anyone. Speaker ONeals hateful abuse of scripture is unacceptable and a disgrace to his office, and he should immediately resign.

And Brownback is definitely one of the principal reasons for this fact.

Now if they could only tear up those huge lawns in front of their churches and plant gardens to feed the hungry...
