Once it was clear the R’s wouldn’t get the vote 60 Dems were free to vote as they saw fit. I’m sure this was cleared with Schumer.

meant that it was clear that there would not be "60 votes" for the bill.... because almost all Republicans were voting against it....

It will be interesting to see how he votes on the bill that drops the border provision but keeps aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
