I buddy I work with just related a story to me about how he just stopped someone from stealing a bicycle.
He was cycling to work and saw a guy using a heavy dute ratchet to unbolt one of those "U-shaped" bike racks from the ground (there was a bike attached to it).
He confronted the guy and the guy gave some lame excuse about trying to "tighten the bolts down" when two of the bolts were already removed.
So the guy walks away and my friend spots 4 cops shaking down a homeless guy.
My friend tells them and points right at the guy (bike theif) walking away. The 4 cops just look at him, shrug and go back to shaking down the homeless guy. FOUR FUCKING COPS.
So there it is. Life in the "meh" society.

I wonder if it's the times we live in or was it similar 100, 200, 1000 years ago? It sux.
The tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy

Probably would only have resulted in you getting a beat down and both the homeless guy AND the bike thief being ignored.

(47,675 posts)I'm sure the homeless man MUST have stolen something - like an old sheet or blanket from a dumpster. You know how those homeless people can be, especially if they're "blah" (Mr. Frothy's term, not mine).
