Question is WHEN to kill Hitler?

you mean like he dies in WW1?

Or in 1923?

Or 1939?

The answers would all be different. Let's try to cover a few bases.

One, very good chance that without Hitler, you end up with a Fuhrer Ernst Rohm or similar character?

An absence of Hitler probably doesn't change the essential European reaction to spreading Communism post WW1

So the possibility of a German authoritarian rising to power in the 1920's is quite high...

And even of you neuter the German and Italian authoritarian movements, at that point you enable a stronger Stalin who invades Western Europe in the 1940's...

I just love alternate history stories.

I've edited two science fiction anthologies, and I would love to do another one that I'm inclined to call "If You Have the Time" and would be a time travel themed one. I would NOT want stories that do things like kill Hitler, but ones that involve much smaller, more personal changes of the past.

Have you ever read "Making History" by Stephen Fry? It's amazing. Check it out.

What is the worst punishment? Death. Or life with zero chance of parole? Imagine the great and magnificent hitler (in his mind) caged. With no power. For the rest of his life. Preferably with no external window. Would he prefer a casket?

Hitler was apparently petrified of being captured alive by the Russians and hauled to Moscow in a cage to face trial. Suicide was the better option.

Fascism surfaces every now and then, when some sociopath plays the racism card to fool people en masse to join the hate and resentment cult.

We don't have to travel back in time.

The time is now, and we can stop fascism in its ugly tracks. There was no Joe Biden to slap down Hitler, Mussolini, Franco and others.

We are fortunate to have Joe as a leader, and let's make history as the people, country and time that stomped out fascism and beat oligarchy, mega maga false prophets ( profits ) grifter and grafter politicians ( we almost had a campaign finance law, and that hoax of "Citizens United" was not foisted on us until recently ) and of course, racism, which is TAUGHT, and not innate.

(Or that we tried damn hard to rid ourselves of them)

But fascism must be beaten, and we must and will bury it like a dead skunk.

I just looked it up, so I could be wrong, but for what it's worth here it is. I might watch it at some point, only 22 minutes long.

is the assumption that it would actually make things better when it could actually make things worse. We have no way of knowing, although killing Hitler is a classic oldie in that department.
Perhaps the moronity in this case is manipulating it to highlight stupidity.

Many of them believe in "The Rapture", and see Israel as playing a huge role in getting themselves whisked up into heaven.

In this Armageddon scenario most Israelis become cannon fodder, perhaps a tiny handful convert to Christianity and are saved.

Family Guy did an episode where Stewie and Brian went back in time and stopped 9/11. Well, Bush had nothing to run on in 2004, and wound up starting a nuke war.

So be careful what you wish for...

to let me know the correct timeline now.

There is reason to be concerned that Hitler was the part of the better alternative branch of history.

One must never be too confident that it can't get any worse.

You know, if you went back in time and killed your grandfather would you ever be born to go back in time etc.

This is probably why time travel is impossible. Inter-dimensional travel, that's another story.

Steven King did a novel exploring what would happen if you could go to the past and save Kennedy from being assassinated. The results going forward were not good. Fun read. But you know, just speculation.

The King novel is 11/22/63
