Jerusalem Post:
The report comes as negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release deal resume between Israel and Hamas in Cairo.
Iran informed the US that it would refrain from responding to the airstrike in which senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders were killed in Damascus if a ceasefire in Gaza is reached, Jadeh Iran reported on Sunday.
The news outlet cited an anonymous Arab diplomatic source, saying the source spoke to the news outlet two days ago. The source added that "If America succeeds in containing the situation, it will be a great success for the Biden administration and we can build on that." https://www.jpost.com/israel-hamas-war/article-795866

(1,001 posts)We'll keep working on a deal to bring the hostages back and end Hamas power in the region. If Iran like it or not, go ahead and respond if you think you want to see what our response will be.

(5,410 posts)It is otherwise Israel's problem, not ours.
NOBODY in this country wants us directly involved in any Middle East war, or anywhere else.
If YOU want to respond to an Iranian attack against Israel,
you go right the fuck ahead!

(1,001 posts)Biden has, in the past week, told Israel that the US will support them against Iran.
DemocraticPatriot
(5,410 posts)I was speaking in terms of a military response, of which there should absolutely be NONE on on the part of the U.S.
Israel is perfectly capable of defending themselves.
I'm sure President Biden was thinking in terms of sanctions or whatever, but NOT any U.S. military response
(unless we ourselves are attacked--- that would change the whole conversation, but Iran is probably not stupid enough to do that)

become a war with Russia ....oh well.

(1,001 posts)to fight on another front, they can barely fight on the one they have now.
And no, the Russians aren't going to use a nuclear weapon because they also like breathing.

(33,424 posts)Really? Well, somebody does. We have troops in Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and we are bombing Houthi positions in Yemen. So we are pretty involved in Middle East wars.

(33,424 posts)Bombing is no longer war... And you ignore the other countries I mentioned.
Big Blue Marble
(5,473 posts)That does not mean that the American People are ready to go to war
with incredible loss of life and treasure to protect Isreal or risk and
an all out world war either not to mention terror attacks in our country.
The troops are there in small numbers to prevent a war, not start one.
You'd have to be insane or Netanyahu to want a war with Iran.
former9thward
(33,424 posts)So no one is preventing one. And small numbers have never prevented any war.
